Prevention Programs

CARE supports prevention programs, which address the harms of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs at a community level, rather than just for individuals.

These programs operate in Brisbane (North and South) and on the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.

Prevention Officers coordinate with local Liquor Accords to reduce alcohol-related harm around licensed premises and in entertainment precincts, working closely with licensees, Police, Liquor Licensing, local Council, Queensland Health and others who are concerned. Programs are based on local research to ensure that they meet local needs.

Local Tobacco Action Groups encourage the adoption of measures to ensure the community stays safe from the harms associated with smoking. They also work to increase community awareness of these issues and ensure that treatment and support programs are available to help people quit.

SAFER VENUES
One such program is Safer Venues; this is an awards scheme which encourages licensees to adopt and maintain safety standards in their venues. Patron safety is a major concern, and Safer Venues recognises the work that licensees do to maintain it.

NO KIDDING!
Our newest program is No Kidding; we are working with Moreton Bay Regional Council and Pine Rivers Licensed Victuallers to inform the public about new legislation on secondary supply of alcohol to under-18's.

More information on these changes to the law is available at this link.
Our posters, badges and coasters will go into all licensed venues in the Pine Rivers region.
